Vision and Mission of
The Jesse Higginbotham Technology Trust, Inc.

We envision Cardinal Valley and the Lexington area becoming the most technologically advanced community in the world.

The following is a list of current projects we are planning on funding with proceeds from the Trust:

  • The purchase of software for local schools, specifically software that will be used by students
  • The acquisition of additional licenses for existing software/programs so that these programs benefit a broader spectrum of students, as opposed to single departments within the schools
  • Obtaining internet service for students without access at home
  • Funding prizes or awards to promote student participation in technology
  • Awarding grants and scholarships to students in need who are pursuing technology educational goals
  • Helping to bring SecondLife or a similar virtual world to area highschoolers, so that they may benefit from the vast educational potential of this online model
  • Making donations to other organizations promoting technological pursuits for children and young adults
  • Supporting others who have made contributions in technology
  • Placing computers in the homes of students who could not otherwise afford them, providing both the students and their families with technical training and support
  • Encouraging students of technology to become mentors to others

One of the immediate goals we hope to achieve is to assist in the creation of a memorial garden at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. This is a project that Jesse was actively participating in. The garden will provide a place of sanctuary for students and the community to remember the young men and women of Dunbar who have lost their lives. This is a community project and we encourage everyone to participate. Currently several clubs at Dunbar are engaged in its creation with the assistance of staff and Lexington area individuals and businesses.
